Welcome to the weblog for Drawing from Life San Diego. This is a monthly life-drawing session that takes place in a nice little gallery and lounge. The idea is to have a four-hour drawing session (in the gallery) where we will use live models--sometimes nude and sometimes in a themed costume--to draw from. The lounge will be open next door so anyone who wants (and who is 21+) can go over and have a beer or a glass of wine and listen to some music and socialize.

The website will also host a drawing club of sorts where members will enjoy community forums, tutorials, articles, member galleries and much more. Membership will be $20.00 per year and those who join the club will only have to pay &10.00 per session. Otherwise each session will be $20.00.

The drawing session will be very loose. In the beginning we will warm up with gesture drawings using the model or a volunteer to do 60 second poses. After that we will have a demo by a professional artist who will give a quick lesson in whichever subject he or she chooses. Participants can start drawing the model right away if they do not choose to watch the demo. During some sessions we may have a nude model on one side and a costumed model on the other--giving a choice to the participants.

It does not matter if you are an artist or if you can draw very well. Life drawing is a relaxing experience that allows you to observe human anatomy and interprete its form and function in your own unique way.
